30 SECONDS thumbnail214469

Re-Charge, React, Make Change! Dalers’ performance of original material entitled “30 Seconds” was recognized by Stage the Change as a 2022 winner. Stage the Change will highlight “30 Seconds” on its social media platforms.

Farmingdale High School thespians were tasked with using their “arts voices” to inspire social change. Students had to reflect on the world around them and stage their reactions to what they see as things that might need change. Mental health, discrimination, news bias, gender equality, body image, and LGBTQ+ issues were all brought up as potential themes. Juniors Gabriella Stein, Hailey Batista, and Jenna Hammelman decided to include all of those topics and produce several vignettes about what a typical high school student, who struggles to focus, thinks about in 30 seconds while appearing to zone out in class.

Stage the Change was founded in 2012 through the Hauppauge High School Drama program to help students become global citizens through creativity and performance.
