On Saturday, May 11, Farmingdale High School students Kelsey DeMaria, William Herbert, Michael Schmitt, and Nicholas Zito, accompanied by band director David Abrams, participated in the New York State Band Director’s Association Day of Band at Hofstra University. Joining over 80 students from various schools on Long Island, the event featured workshops led by Hofstra music department faculty, rehearsals alongside the Hofstra University Symphonic Band, and a concert for family, friends, and university guests. With the guidance of conductor David Soto, William and Michael had the chance to conduct the 160+ member ensemble.
