Katerina Bernius, with her book, The Magical Flower
There’s no shortage of talented students in the Farmingdale School District. Case in point: Katerina Bernius, an 11-year-old Howitt Middle School 6th grader, is a published author! Katerina’s book, The Magical Flower, tells the story of three best friends who planted flowers in their garden. To their excitement and awe, one of them begins to glow—a magical flower. The book is the story of these three friends and their journey through the winter as they wait for their magical flower to appear once more in the spring.
On April 30, 2022, at Barnes & Noble in Carl Place, Katerina appeared for a book signing and reading sponsored by The Book Fairies. Book Fairies is a non-profit organization that collects reading materials for people in need throughout metropolitan New York. Since 2012, Book Fairies has donated over 2.7 million books to support literacy programs.
Katerina was joined by family, friends, and Farmingdale School district staff, who came out to support her on her special day. Katerina’s book The Magical Flower can be found on Amazon.
