Farmingdale High School and Weldon E. Howitt Middle School students organized the district’s 7th annual P.S. I Love you Day on Friday, February 14, 2020. Held annually on the second Friday in February, P.S. I Love you Day is a day where everyone is encouraged to wear purple to decrease bullying and bring awareness to the importance of mental health—with the hope that it will prevent suicide.
The day was created by Brooke DiPalma of West Islip, NY. Her father committed suicide in 2010. His last words to her were, “I love you,” and they inspired Brooke to create a day that would put a spotlight on suicide prevention.
