The Farmingdale High School Competition Cheer Team placed third at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Empire Regional Competition at Nassau Community College on December 8, 2019, earning themselves an invitation to compete for the first time in school history at the UCA High School Cheerleading Nationals next February 7-9, 2020 at Walt Disney World in Florida.
“The UCA High School Cheerleading Nationals is the most prestigious cheerleading competition in the country,” said coach Caitlin Weinsheimer. “This competition had teams from all over the East Coast and we beat out last year's reigning national champions, Mount Sinai, and some other nationally ranked teams.”
Just a day prior, the team won their first competition of the season at Oceanside High School. “It’s only the second year that we’re competing as a varsity team,” continued Ms. Weinsheimer. “Last year we qualified for the county championship for the first time in school history and this year we’re hoping to win counties, qualify for states, and make it to finals at UCA Nationals!”
