The first annual Trade School Fair took place at Farmingdale High School on Thursday, March 24th. The Trade School Fair organized by Farmingdale High School teacher Ivelysse Powers gave students the ability to learn more about different opportunities and career paths available in the local area. A diverse range of industry representatives spent the day speaking with students, answering questions, and sharing information to help interested students plan for a future that works.

"I am excited to provide our students the opportunity to learn about different skilled trades and career paths,” said Farmingdale High School teacher Ivelysse Powers. “For students starting to consider their next steps, it’s important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.”

Some of the schools in attendance were: Long Island Drafting & Technical Institute, Lincoln Tech, The Learn Center, Electrical Training Institute, Long Island Beauty School, Universal Technical Institute, and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center at Suffolk Community College. These schools have programs in computer drafting, welding, heavy equipment, medical billing, HVAC, automotive, nails, makeup, collision repair, health occupations, and more.
