On a recent frigid Saturday, Weldon E. Howitt Middle School art teacher Barbara Ginexi brought several of her 8th grade Studio Arts students into Farmingdale Village to decorate abandoned storefronts with colorful winter scenes. Generous parents stopped by to offer them hot coffee and extra gloves as they created scenes of snowmen and igloos. “They came together to help beautify their community,” said Ms. Ginexi. “It was a great experience for the students and they did a fantastic job!”
