Because of Winn Dixie

fullsizeoutput_c6d5.jpg thumbnail161210
Students in Ms. Breuer’s class at Woodward Parkway found a unique way to celebrate the end of their read aloud of the book Because of Winn Dixie. They recreated the scene of Gloria Dump's backyard party where all the characters come together. Students created 3-D artifacts in Innovation Lab, that aligned with something symbolic in the story (for example, a replica of Winn Dixie's collar). The same food that was served at Gloria’s humble but special gathering—egg salad sandwiches, pickles, litmus lozenges, and Dump Punch—was brought in for the children to sample; donated by The Turning Point in Farmingdale.
