A gentle spray of water arches across the school lawn as Dalers laugh and leap through sprinklers on a warm afternoon. At Northside Elementary School, moments like Sprinkler Day bring pure joy into daily learning throughout the Extended School Year program.
Inside the building and out on the playground, speech, occupational, and physical therapists work directly alongside classroom teachers. Together, they weave individual developmental goals into shared recreation. Children expand their communication skills during group play, refine motor strength through active games, and explore sensory-friendly learning centers built for hands-on discovery.
"Things have been going exceptionally well, and the growth and energy across the program have been fantastic to see," said Principal Ivelysse Powers. "Our students have been working hard on their goals while having a wonderful time."
Shared experiences and Friday theme days give students regular opportunities to build strong friendships and boost self-confidence. These memorable summer milestones provide a supportive foundation as children prepare for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
