Dominant in Syracuse

The Farmingdale High School Lady Dalers Varsity Swim & Dive Team earned an impressive 94-76 road victory against defending Section III champion Jamesville-Dewitt High School on Friday, Sept. 11, advancing to 2-0 for the 2026-2027 school year. Following an earlier victory against Nassau County champion Jericho High School, the 46 student-athletes traveled to the Syracuse area for the non-league matchup before enjoying a weekend of collegiate exploration.
Key performances dominated the score sheet throughout the afternoon. Junior Nicolette Trobiano and sophomore Maggie Kelly took first and second place in the 100-yard individual medley. Divers junior Avery Schuhmacher, freshman Abby Gerula, senior Maddy Failla, and junior Victoria Pierre Francois swept the diving event completely. Eighth-grader Julia Fiore won the 50-yard butterfly by a touch, while freshman Aubrey McGuigan, senior Kaitlyn Thurston, and freshman Kaylee JeanBaptiste completed a one-two-three finish in the 50-yard breaststroke to seal the win.
Following the competition, the team celebrated with a group dinner in East Syracuse. On Saturday, Sept. 12, the student-athletes toured Syracuse University alongside alumnus, Economics Teacher, and Diving Coach Randy Corcoran. Team members received pregame field passes at the JMA Wireless Dome, formed a fan tunnel on the field, and watched the halftime performance, creating a special memory for team members who also perform in the Farmingdale High School Marching Band.
