Patriot Day in Farmingdale Schools

Within the Farmingdale School District, September 11 is observed with care and respect through age-appropriate instruction tailored to every grade level. Older students learn about the day's events, their profound impact on everyday citizens, first responders, and our nation, and how we have rebuilt with resilience through historical photos, archives, and age-appropriate media. Meanwhile, our youngest Dalers engage in Patriot Day activities centered on unity, community helpers, and service.
This commitment to reflection and education continues next week. On Tuesday, September 15, Farmingdale High School will welcome back esteemed alumnus Lt. Colonel Richard Vargus for three presentation sessions with our Social Studies classes.
Lt. Colonel Vargus’s presentation will cover the historic circumstances around the events of the day, paying special tribute to the brave FDNY Dalers who made the ultimate sacrifice. He will conclude his sessions with a powerful reflection on the duty of service to both our local community and our nation.
