Grade 10 and Grade 11 Foreign Language Regents Examinations for French, Italian, German, Spanish and American Sign Language Will be on Tuesday June 24 2008 at 12:15 p.m.
Level 1 Foreign Language Proficiency Examinations for French, Italian, German, Spanish and American Sign Language will be on Monday June 23 2008 at 9:15 a.m.
The Foreign Language Department offers courses in four languages beginning in grade 6 with Introduction to Foreign Languages.
In this course students are introduced to 4 languages: American Sign Language, French, Italian and Spanish. In addition to learning some fundamentals of each language and culture, students will be better prepared to select a language sequence.
Students who begin their foreign language sequence in 7th grade will complete their requirement for high school graduation in 8th grade upon passing the New York State Proficiency Examination and successful completion of the 8th grade course.
They will also earn 1 high school credit.
A Comprehensive Regents Examination in the student's language sequence will be given in 10th grade.
Upon sucessfully completion of the Regents sequence students have the opportunity to study further.
