The mission of the Farmingdale School District is to educate our students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. It is our goal to empower each student to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s emerging world. The District will provide a safe, nurturing environment in which individual and civic responsibility is fostered, diversity is respected, and all students are enabled to realize their full potential.

Farmingdale had eight performing groups go to the NYSSMA Large Organization festival at Hofstra in May. Five groups - Joan Drewes' Chorus at Saltzman, Erica Hartmann's Band at Woodward, Andy Segale's Wind Ensemble at Howitt, and Michael Lee's High School Orchestra and High School Chamber Orchestra earned Gold .
In addition, Jen Tower's band at Saltzman, Therese Mannino's orchestra at Woodward and Gina Pellettiere's High School Wind Ensemble earned Gold with Distinction !

Did You Know? ..... Many athletic teams representing Farmingdale High School achieved New York State Scholar Athlete status for the recently completed winter season.
Of these teams, six were of special note in comparison to all other Nassau County High Schools!!!
NUMBER ONE IN COUNTY : Boys Basketball (95.00 average) and Boys Bowling (96.88 average)
SECOND PLACE: Wrestling (94.25 average) and Boys Swimming and Diving (96.16 average)
FOURTH PLACE: Girls Basketball (95.60 average)
FIFTH PLACE: Girls Bowling (93.74 average)
Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, and especially their current and past teachers!

Did You Know? ..... For the third year in a row, all 11 of our fall varsity sports teams have earned scholar-athlete status from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) by achieving an academic average of at least 90 percent during their sports season.

Did You Know? ..... Even while providing one of the most comprehensive educational programs, Farmingdale's per pupil expenditure ranks among the lowest in Nassau County.

Did You Know? ..... Farmingdale students had the opportunity to express their artistic talent and creativity through the National PTA Reflections program. Saltzman East Memorial School had eight entries advance to the Nassau Region Level competition!

Did You Know? ..... Our students begin volunteer work at age four. One hundred pre-schoolers participated in a Trikeathon where they did laps to raise money for the Farmingdale Schools Family fund. The students were members of the High School Child Development Pre-School.

Did You Know? ..... The Farmingdale School District is audited twice per year: once by our internal auditors and once by our independent auditors. In addition, every check that leaves the business office is first reviewed and verified by a claims auditor.

Did You Know? ..... Albany Avenue School has an active Wellness Club with about 80 members who meet twice weekly in the fall and spring to promote sports, recreation and other healthy activities. They even participated in a 5K run during a December snowstorm!

Did You Know? ..... The Farmingdale High School wind ensemble went to the 2008 NYSSMA Large Organization festival to perform the most rigorous Level 6 band literature. Additionally, Howitt Middle School's chorus was the only middle school chorus in the county to perform Level 3 music. Both earned NYSSMA's highest rating--gold, with distinction.
